EISJMUN'22 BEGINS IN:

A message from,

The Secretary General

Aarav Mehta

Secretary General

It is with great honour and privilege that I, Aarav Metha, Secretary-General of EISJMUN 2022, cordially invite the leaders of tomorrow to Emirates International School Jumeirah’s sixth annual edition of our Model United Nations conference on behalf of the entire EISJMUN team.

EISJMUN is one of the largest conferences in the Middle East that adheres to THIMUN procedures. EISJMUN is known for its progressing platform that encourages individuals from various nationalities and age groups to participate in a three-day conference. This conference will develop, engage and allow participants to use critical thinking skills to not only identify conflicts but create viable theoretical resolutions to solve these troubling problems. With this being a milestone conference, we strive to establish an enhanced experience for delegates to thoroughly understand the meaning of being a global citizen through 13 filtered, captivating and interesting committees.

That being said, it is with the utmost pleasure that I would like to announce the addition of one brand new committee, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime provides an experience unlike others, where it tackles problems relating to the unethical work of Cartels, the Drug Epidemic and Police Corruption.

These added committees go along with our set theme of the conference; Persistence, Sustainable Progression, & Collective Responsibility. The main goal of this year's theme is to understand that a persistent and responsible society only develops once we start to understand that each and every individual contributes a unique aspect to the global community. However, that being said, it is vital that we start to realize that stereotypes and inhumane practices are acts that defeat the purpose of accepting each other, thus tying in the second part of our theme; progression. Lastly, the theme is focused on showcasing a collective responsibility to create a more freely expressing, open society, to make the global citizens feel more united and overall comfortable.

The theme, the conference and the people involved will do nothing but create an unforgettable experience for the brewing leaders of tomorrow. At Emirates International School Jumeirah, we are more than ecstatic to offer an intellectual and challenged filled platform to ensure that we are persistent to progress sustainability by taking upon collective responsibility to create a successful tomorrow.

Once again I would like to cordially invite you to EISJMUN 2022 whilst we abide by what Ban Ki-Moon, the former secretary-general, once said the youth “can be agents of change” and “as the young leaders of tomorrow, you have the passion and energy and commitment to make a difference”

Aarav Mehta

Secretary General of EISJMUN 2022

Theme- Persistence, Sustainable Progression & Collective Responsibility

Increasing globalization in society, in forms of strengthening interaction and integration among people, technology, information and cultures, has also rapidly increased the widespread of global challenges that require vast global involvement and initiatives to deal with. The current unprecedented and unpredictable situation serves as a quintessential example of a global challenge and the pressing need for collective responsibility. States across the globe must act with responsibility and cooperation to derive and arrive at solutions that work best for individuals and groups around the world. However, with the imminent requirement for persistence, we must also ensure we take into account sustainability as society must progress forward and the resolutions we come to must not pose a hindrance or cause society to regress in the future. The constant and dedicated strive for sustainable progression is evident by the considerable progress with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), at the heart of which lie five critical dimensions: people, prosperity, planet, partnership and peace. That being said, through joint and collaborative perseverance, we as a society can develop, progress and thrive against global challenges. At this conference, we all endeavor to achieve and showcase our persistence, sense of collaboration and responsibility to strive for a developed and sustainable future.

Why should you attend Model United Nations (MUN)?

Model UN motivates students to learn and teaches them about world issues. It is a way to become an active, more concerned global citizen, while in this era of globalization, being globally aware is more important than ever. Furthermore Model UN builds confidence and leadership and diplomatic skills . MUN is an exercise in research, public speaking, and teamwork. These are skills that you will need throughout your career, and MUN gives you a chance to practice them while you’re a student. You can also leverage your MUN experience and network to get into college and find jobs in this field and gain a multicultural experience bringing together a diverse group of people from all around the nation. But above all MUN is a CHANCE given to every student to speak! It encourages students to use their voices because a whisper of wisdom is louder than a scream that merely echoes. It is your chance to dream, travel the world, gain lifetime experiences and get out of your comfort zone!
